Bio

Shegina V Gopal is a highly qualified and accomplished architect with a passion for design excellence. She completed her Bachelor of Architecture from the Indian Institute of Architects in 2003. Her passion for landscape design led her to earn the prestigious Master’s program in Landscape Architecture from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK, in 2008. Following which she joined Halcrow, a multinational company where she worked as a designer for two years. To strengthen her foundations in design capacities, architectural experimentations and critical discourses she went on to pursue a Master program in General Architecture from Karpagam University, further adding to her expertise in the field.

As a member of prestigious organisations such as the Indian Society of Landscape Architects (ISOLA), Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), and Council of Architecture (COA), Shegina has been an active participant in various architectural forums and conferences. She also served as the Kerala chapter General Secretary of ISOLA, which gave her an opportunity to lead and inspire fellow architects.

She started as an Architect at Inspiration under Ar. Latha Jaigopal and Jaigopal Rao and has since become a respected authority in the industry. Currently, she heads the architecture and landscape firm Beaconn Architects based in Cochin, where she has been working on diverse landscape projects .She has been involved in several significant projects, including the design and execution of 5-star Ramada hotel project along with Ar. Georgmathai, on various large-scale residences, hospitals, and the Marari Beach Resort project. Shegina’s exceptional design skills and creativity were acknowledged when she received the consolation prize for the Hyderabad Metro Landscape Design Competition.

At EKC College of Architecture, Shegina imparts her knowledge and passion for architecture to her students. She promotes a culture of learning that encourages experimentation and innovation, inspiring her students to think outside the box. She is dedicated to shaping the future of architecture through her vision, expertise and mentorship, guiding her students towards excellence in their academic and professional pursuits. She also advocates for a culture of diversity and inclusivity, setting high standards for professional conduct and ethical behaviour, and encourages ongoing professional development and participation in learning opportunities for faculty members.
